Beguiling! First, set aside an hour to read the extensively curated in-room guide. It’s not a Welcome Book it’s a Lake Superior novella - not to be missed. Second you will never find a cleaner, more simple, quieter space in which to respite. Fancy? Not! 5 miles south of Naniboujoo, 30 from Grand Portage this gem is NOT to be missed.

Always enjoyable to stay here. We stayed during the Aurora in November. Was breathtaking. The room we stayed in was so tidy, warm, and welcoming. The view of Lake Superior at sunrise out our window, just right. In gratitude, Lor

Absolutely, perfect for our needs. Todd and holly are great hosts and very accommodating. Don't miss the great hiking trail. They have that goes up to the sht and their welcome book. Has a plethora of information, and it's quite funny.

We stayed here overnight, great room you get for the price under $100. Views are on the lake. Parking is right outside. Shower looks older but water pressure and temperature were just perfect et after a long ride and a short hike. Bed and pillows soft and comfortable, river next to the property takes away all the outside and road noise, so we had a great night sleep, I didn’t even hear the thunder.

We stayed 2 nights in a room with 1 queen bed for a trip to Isle Royale National Park. We loved the whimsical touches (including Otis the moose) and the spectacular view of the lake from our room. We took advantage of adirondack chairs right outside our room to enjoy the lake view. The room was very clean. The owners were extremely friendly and helpful. We are already contemplating a trip back in the fall to see the leaves changing color.

I sent my daughter and her husband up to the Outpost Motel for their honeymoon. The entire experience, from booking the room to arranging some extras, was so positive and joyful :)) Holly, the owner who I dealt with for everything, was so super nice and absolutely went to the n'th degree to make everything perfect for the couple! They had a fantastic stay there. Overall the Outlook combines a beautiful and unique location with friendly hosts and a thoughtfully and thoroughly provisioned room, according to my daughter. (they had a one bedroom suite w/kitchen). A million thanks to the Outpost for providing such a wonderful place for this couple.

Everything about this motel was super cute. It was the perfect place to relax after spending 3 days in the BWCA. You can tell a lot of love goes into the business by all the little details in the rooms and around the property. We will definitely be back next time we are in Grand Marais.

Very friendly hosts, cabin feel, views of The Lake all around the rooms, very 1950's vibe. Close enough to great dining in Hovland and Grand Marais. Many trails and lookouts nearby. A truly hidden gem.

The stay here back in June was great! I was greeted in the office upon arrival by Holly. She was very down to earth and a pleasure chatting with. The room was very cozy and I had no complaints about the stay. The conditions for the bike race that I did in the area were brutal so I was beat when I got back to the motel and spent most of the evening sleeping. This is such a beautiful area that I would love to visit again and spend some time hiking or biking around. If I do, I would surely come back and stay at the Outpost!

Holly was so accommodating, welcoming, and kind. A clean room and a comfortable bed was awaiting for us before and after a long few days of hiking. Parking was close to our room and there was a little shop for us to peruse. Ferry to Isle Royale was nearby. We would definitely stay again.
